Welcome to an intimate look at Oliver Stone’s life and experiences. Stone is the pen name behind “Spirit of the Wild: Reconnecting with Nature’s Wisdom.” Oliver’s journey involves transformation, service, deep connection to the natural world and Apache wisdom.
Roots in the Southwest
Oliver’s story begins in the historic mining town of Silver City, New Mexico. Nestled at the edge of the Gila National Forest, Silver City provided the perfect backdrop for a childhood filled with outdoor adventures and early encounters with Native American culture. The rugged beauty of the Southwest and its rich cultural tapestry would leave an indelible mark on young Oliver, setting the stage for a life dedicated to understanding and sharing the profound connection between humans and nature.
Serving Country and Finding Purpose
After high school, Oliver joined the United States Marine Corps, a decision that would shape his character and worldview. During his service, he learned discipline, teamwork, and resilience. More importantly, his experiences in various parts of the world opened his eyes to different cultures and ways of living, sparking a curiosity that would later fuel his passion for indigenous wisdom.
Healing Bodies and Spirits
Upon returning to civilian life, Oliver pursued a career in physical therapy. This choice was inspired by his desire to help others and his growing interest in holistic approaches to health and wellness. His work allowed him to witness firsthand the powerful connection between physical health and mental well-being, a principle deeply rooted in Apache healing traditions.
A Calling to Serve the Community
Oliver’s commitment to service led him to establish and run a local rescue mission. This experience brought him face-to-face with individuals from all walks of life, many of whom were disconnected from their roots and struggling to find meaning. During this time, Oliver began to see the potential for ancient wisdom to address modern-day challenges.
Embracing Apache Wisdom
A chance encounter with Tahoma Whispering Wind, an Apache elder, marked a turning point in Oliver’s life. Fascinated by Tahoma’s deep understanding of nature and spirituality, Oliver dedicated himself to learning and preserving Apache wisdom. He spent years studying under Tahoma and other elders, immersing himself in their teachings and practices.
